Lectio PDF Reader & Bookshelf — Caps Rock

Caps Rock ("we" or "us") has established this Privacy Policy regarding the handling of user information in the iOS app "Lectio" (the "App"). The App is a PDF bookshelf for iPhone and iPad. It lets you bring PDF files from iCloud Drive, Dropbox, Google Drive, or the Files app onto one shelf and read them like a book.

1. The Basics

Your PDF files and your bookshelf (reading position, bookmarks, favorites) are stored only on your device. They are never uploaded to our servers. We do not operate any server that receives your files, file names, or reading history.

2. Access to Cloud Services

The App accesses the following cloud services only when you choose to connect them. You can use the App without connecting any of them.

Google Drive

When you connect Google Drive, you sign in with your Google Account and the App requests the permission "See and download all your Google Drive files" (https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.readonly). The App uses this permission for two purposes only:

The App never creates, modifies, deletes, moves, or shares files in your Google Drive. The file list is used only to draw the browsing screen on your device and is not stored or transmitted elsewhere. The sign-in credential (OAuth access token and refresh token) is stored in your device's keychain by the Google Sign-In SDK so that you do not have to sign in every time. We do not collect or store your Google Account email address, name, or profile picture.

Lectio's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. In particular, Google user data is never used for advertising, is never sold, and is never transferred to third parties except as necessary to provide the feature you requested.

You can disconnect Google Drive at any time by signing out inside the App, or by removing Lectio from the Third-party apps & services page of your Google Account. PDFs you have already imported remain on your device until you delete them.

Dropbox

When you connect Dropbox, the App requests read-only permissions (files.metadata.read, files.content.read) to list your folders and files and to download the PDFs you select. The App never writes to your Dropbox. The sign-in credential is stored in your device's keychain by the Dropbox SDK.

iCloud Drive and the Files app

Files in iCloud Drive and other locations in the Files app are accessed through Apple's standard document picker and file system. Their handling is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

3. Information We Collect

The App uses Firebase (Google LLC) for the following purposes:

In the course of this, technical information such as device model, OS version, app version, language, and a Firebase installation ID may be sent to Google's servers. This information does not identify you personally. The App does not show advertisements and does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

4. Information We Do Not Collect

The App does not collect your name, email address, location, contacts, photos, or the contents of your PDF files.

5. How We Use Information

6. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services. Each handles data in accordance with its own privacy policy.

We do not sell or share user information with any third parties beyond those listed above.

7. Data Storage and Deletion

Imported PDFs and bookshelf data are stored on your device. Deleting a book inside the App removes its file from the device, and deleting the App removes all of its data. Cloud sign-in credentials are removed when you sign out inside the App or revoke access from the respective service. Technical information sent to Firebase is retained according to Google's data retention policy.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The latest version is always available at this page.
